I have a 4312 and am having the same problem, I even tried a fresh
install from a new disk. I remember that in the beginning of beta 5 it
worked fine. However now the Hardware Drive dialog does not seem to see
the card. I tried to manually setup the b4 driver, still a no go.

Confirmed in Gutsy x64. This problem occurs even if the space is above
the relevant compression.
eg. if I create a new folder on the desktop, "untitled folder", place
something inside it and try to compress to 7z, I get the above error.

I reproduced on an entirely different machine (Thinkpad T42p).
I know xen is pretty much aimed at the server market, but I believe it
is very important for the desktop for many reasons. I recommend upping

I found a workaround after discussion with Tobin Davis from the Alsa
Project team on alsa-dev mailing-list.
Using probe_mask = 1 as an option for mudule insertion gets sound
working. I don't know yet if it is ONLY a workaround of a bug, or a real
solution (without limitation in sound system).

I apologize, I mistyped. The upgrade was Karmic to Lucid not Jaunty to Lucid.
My computer came with Intrepid. OpenOffice.org was fine on the Intrepid to
Jaunty upgrade, and the Jaunty to Karmic upgrade. It was the Karmic to Lucid
upgrade that broke.

Yes the update was performed through update-manager. The problem was
resolved by manually reinstalling with Synaptic after rebooting into the
new version. OpenOffice.org does function, however the automated upgrade
seems to occur in the wrong order. It did refer earlier to a Python
package not bein

I have karmic with pulseaudio 1:0.9.19-0ubuntu4 and home as ntfs and
still have this problem. Pulseaudio doesn't start.

Hi Jeremy,
I just tested this morning with all the latest kernel updates and Lucid
updates applied without being able to replicate the error. If there is
anything you need let me know but this is no longer an issue for me.
