The solution for me was to use dmix. As sad as it is... even new cards
can't handle multi sound and record very well. wether the driver or the
hardware. Both could even be to blam.

This has been solved in Feisty or in other words the next version of Gnome.
You can now select what device you would like for use as your volume buttons.
Very nice feature and much needed. (It is found in System Preferences Sound)

I get annoyed by it too... it wouldn't be hard to have it find those files and
if they are they prompt for a password and then delete them.
Otherwise have the trash tell that you can't move them there because the trash
is not supposed to take them. But that would be dumb.

dangit... check this... if I boot with the option in the grub menu.lst
it doesn't, but when I simple go to edit the boot option and don't edit
it... just goto the line and press e then enter then b it work. Talk
