To JeffH:
I think it's the latter, most users do not have a multiple-user ubuntu install.
One of the problems, I had noted, when I changed the resolution back from
640x480 to 1024x768...the screen went black.
Let me boot into my Ubuntu partition and I'll respond once more.

Small comment.
I am not sure if this is true of the ubuntu package, but I hear the
signal strength in the madwifi driver is "out of 62" as opposed to out
of 100 so when network manager reports 60 that is close to 100 percent.
A patch was proposed to fix this just for the madwifi cards but as far
Beyond this, if I try to change user then change the screen resolution,
to what the other user was. The screen goes black. Dark, only way to
save it is CTRL + ALT + BKSPC.
Kind of kills "multiuser" ability in Linux, don't ya think? Lol

Switch user causes screen resolution to change
https://
Let me elaborate, I read over and realized it sounded bad.
If I am user A, and my Resolution is: 1152x864 @ 51 Hz and I goto switch
to user B, the screen defaults at 1280x1024 @ 50 Hz.
If I try to set user B to 1152x864 @ 51 Hz, the screen refreshes (like
it's going to set it), but never returns.
Adding on again, because I am an airhead.
I am using an old NVidia FX 5200 with an aging Pentium 4 Proc running at
2.80 gHz (underclocked to 2.79 somehow [don't ask; it's a dell])
Ain't nothing like a slice of underclock. ;-)

I have this same problem.
Machine is an IBM T40, tried two separate mini-pci wifi cards (both

router, I get around 60 percent signal whereas another computer acorss
the room gets 92 percent or higher.
Tried with 2 routers, WRT5

Hi, it is still an issue. I just checked, and the 6.06.1 related avm-
fritz.tgz still does not have the fix -- see my initial report. I know
how to get around it, and having to build the fcpmcia modules for every
new kernel is the only thing that annoys me here. New kernels don't get
issues too oft
What type of information to fix this would have been needed? I mean
other than those I already provided? Did you look at the solution
ArchLinux provided?
So, in short words: What information is missing?

I guess it's still an issue for that kernel. Currently, I am running

patches in the archlinux repositories

Do you have any Python plugins in ~/.kicad_plugins or other plugin
paths? pcbnew started crashing on me with Ubuntu 18.04 and now 18.10
when I install any plugins, works again after removing them. I've
attached a gdb dump. I wonder if this is the same bug? Looking at this
backtrace it seems like it
I wanted to add a note, that reverting this patch to fix the display
issues, causes the segfault issue to return. In particular zooming on
Kicad pcbnew can crash Xorg with the AMD fglrx driver. I confirmed that
fbBresSolid() was the source of the segfault. I re-applied the original

I discovered that this bug is GTK theme specific. From what I can tell,
the issue does not occur with the HighContrast theme, but occurs with
most others I tried including the default Adwaita theme. The only other
theme I have found so far that does not have this issue is the DarkMint
theme. I s
I've since upgraded to 11.10 Oneiric and it is working fine. Thanks for
the information though! This ticket can be marked as closed.

That differs from what I've experienced in that the MediaBoard only
worked once after a fresh install and never again, even when turning off
the device and rebooting. Seems like your situation is much more
usable, I'm envious! ;-)
