My Travelmate 5320 was suffering from a black screen on resume, adding
SUSPEND_MODULES="psmouse" fixed this issue for me in Hardy. Intrepid on
the other hand works 100% after a fresh install, the only distro so far

I suffer with the same issue, and I have applied the above workaround
(kill nautilus), it seems to stop the high usage of the CPU by nautilus,
but it has broken the screensaver when switching users. I get a blank
(white) screen, and if I type in my password, I get my desktop back.

None of the above worked for me...
I can see my networks, network-manager even detects what security
protocol to use, but when I attempt to connect network manager spirals
out of control and uses 100% CPU.

Ok, I was far too hasty with the prognosis of my wireless issues
(frustration). Thank you so much Stuart Read! T'was Network manager!
Patch worked a treat! :)

I have been able to get the tracker-applet back...
I noticed that I had 2 instances of trackerd running. So I disabled
Tracker via the Preferences -> Search and Indexing, then I killed both
instances of trackerd, then re-enabled tracker in preferences, et voila,

My system was affected by this bug with both 9.04 and 10.10 (32bit) -
random freezes, weird mouse/keyboard behaviour. I flashed my BIOS to
latest version, and not a lockup since. Perhaps my freezes were specific
to my hardware but just in case it helps anyone else:
