This bug exists yet, and it's the same in Windows XP.
I have Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex and Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 (20090105).

Wow, I thought I was quite thorough on my evaluation. Perhaps this
should be changed to status ignored?

The issue resolved when I upgrade to a new version of Ubuntu. I did a clean
reinstall.
