Just upgraded my ubuntu from 9.10 to 10.04 lts (final version). my
thunderbird 3 crashes with a segment fault failure message now. the
profile is on the local disc (ext4) / standard installation. everything

Went to konsole and ran sudo firefox
I was able to save images while running in this mode though the console output
showed the above errors regarding io-slave. Also the graphics of the browser

When I'm back in normal user mode I can only save one or two images then
the bug returns. Running in sudo mode is ugly but it gets me the
functionality.

I've got an Eee PC 4G (701) (in use since March of 2008 with Xandros)
and Ubuntu 9.10 reports this error on the internal solid state drive
after being woken up.
I'm guessing the problem is with the fact that SD cards are not designed
for high volumes of write operations and the virtual memory/swap

The same problem still appears on a 10.04 install done today. I have an
Intel 945G Express Chipset within a notebook, and an external LG 204WT
monitor. In gnome-display-properties I could not choose the appropriate
1680x1050 resolution for this monitor.
A workaround was creating /etc/X11/xorg.conf
There seems to be something wrong with the get-edid output here.

After install I ran the update tool and was offered a choice to change
the grub configuration to the developer's version or keep the current.
I chose to view the differences. From the differences window I hit

I started experiencing something similar today after enabling Karmic
proposed repositories and performing an upgrade. The upgrade pulled in
updates for xserver. The updates seem to be related to the failsafe
server. Reverting to the Karmic released versions of the xserver

of the blue the busy inodes message started flooding the log. I checked the log

My machine did not freeze. I had a /usr/bin/xine binary with 0 bytes
size and Xine did not start.
After today's updates I got a crash report about the same problem.

I have a Dell Latitude D400 as well.
Initial Linux installation was Linux Mint 7 (Gloria) (~ Ubuntu 9.04 /
Jaunty). Suspend/ Resume worked flawlessly.
Upgraded to Linux Mint 8 (Helena) (~ Ubuntu 9.10 / Karmic).
Fn-Suspend no longer works, even after re-adding key sequence to enable

I only have issues with Firefox. If I am using no other programs except
Firefox, RAM is at 89% contstantly. Firefox lags in scrolling and it
seems to be something with page load. Once the page is entirely loaded,

Tried the position_fix=1 suggestion without notable benefit. However,
after that it occurred to me that I had to tweak alsa-base.conf in
Karmic to get sound at all. I have now forward-ported the changes from
my Karmic installation, so the relevant lines now read:
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,sn
OK, I have tried and failed with:

model + enable_msi
position_fix
I have yet to try two-option combinations with position_fix.
So far, only the combination of all three has yielded reliable sound.

Thanks for the reply, Jeremy. I'm not sure what packages to install.
Currently, the 'daily/current' directory [1] shows 2010-06-08-maverick
which only contains -headers and -source packages. I didn't find any
other versions for Maverick that also contain -image. Could you give a
more specific point

The daily builds are complete now, so I have tested this with:
