I have experienced this once before when I was using Hardy. Vista
started treating my RTL8187 as a new usb device, with a new mac address.
This would happen to me the first time I would run Vista after Ubuntu. I
am quite confident this was caused by an update to hardy. When I changed
from 2.6.24-20
I too have an RTL8187 chip on my Asus P5K Deluxe Motherboard. My signal
strength is only 18% in Ubuntu 8.10(32 bit), where as in Vista(32 bit)
on the same computer I get full signal strength. I have high speed cable
and am using a D-Link DGL-4500 with WPA2 AES. Just as the original
poster said, the
I used to experience this bug, however somewhere along the way with the
kernel updates it was fixed for me. I was getting 14%, but now I get 85%
in Karmic and there are no slowdowns. As far as I am concerned this bug
is no longer...

Chris, is this the type of log you need for the bug? By the way,
sudonautilus is simply a script that contains "sudo nautilus". My
apologies in advance if this is not what you need, as I don't usually
participate past describing bugs I have experienced. :-)
