After recent Kernel updates I have been unable to reproduce this bug. I
have done everything that I can to reproduce it but have been unable to
do so.
This bug can be closed from my point of view.

I deleted this generated xorg.conf, but it did not regenerate. I copied
the second xorg.conf back in place. Restarting after deleting this
second xorg.conf caused the failure to occur, but I think that was just
luck of the draw.

I have noticed after a fresh install of 8.10 that the X server comes up
blank on my screen after booting. I can usually get it back in business
by using forst Ctrl-Alt F8 to switch to the boot log, then releasing all
three keys before switching back to the X console using Ctr

I confirm that this bug is still present in Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10)

command line as root using sudo, or add the user which will execute the
