When I start Kubuntu 8.10-rc with all current updates while the wireless
switch is set to "off" I find no way to make wireless LAN on.
KNetworkManager claims that it is disabled, no matter if it is switched
on or off.

Ok, in the last couple of days the notebook had no problems at all, now it just
happend again. I was playing music (amarok), Konqueror was open and I was
chatting in Kopete via ICQ. Nothing special. This is now the 686-kernel. All
updates are installed, I updated the machine this morning.

I just want to add that the missing files make the vim-spelling feature useless
for about 90% of mankind as most people do not use vim in english. This is not

So far, OOo crashed about 50 times for me, about 5 times with real
dataloss. And this is without Klipper. With Klipper OOo crashed every 10
minutes... So I switched the PC (also Edgy) which was stable so far
(without Klipper) for my work in OOo. That machine is now also crashing

I can confirm this. Crashes most of the times for me. I'm running a
mobile i3.
But I think it's a driver problem, since it seems to be fixed in
2.6.33-rc7. For now, it didn't crash with this kernel.

edgers seem to make it better. No lockups anymore, but still a black
screen after booting. Xorg logs a backtrace, but this is only usefull

In ubuntu 8.10 /usr/share/applications/gvim.desktop contains the line
'Exec=gvim -f %F'. This prevents from executing external commands in
background if gvim is started from menu.
For example ':!xterm &' does not work.
If the '-f' option is omitted everything works as expect

The shutdown-popup of the netbook-remix'es launcher-app cannot be closed by
hitting the cancel-button.
