Here's my take on the R50e suspend/resume deal.
Ingredients:
- up to date edgy as of 07-10-2006
- acpi-support 0.89
- kernel 2.6.17-10-386
So I have stock setup regarding kernel and acpi-tools.
To make things work, I only had to add one line in
/usr/share/acpi/IBM.config as follows (the POST_
Oops. Well it turns out, just like the topic says, graphics get
corrupted unless I haveOption "VBERestore" "true" in Xorg conf.
So with these two changes and stock config all oughta be well.

When I press keyboard keys I have to hold each down for 1 second before
it types. Was fine for a day after installation and is still fine in
login screen. If I just tap the key nothing happens as though the
keyboard isn't working.

After experimenting I found that something called slowkeys in accessibility was
enabled. I'm not sure how that turned on, but it seems to be fine now.

That was it! thanks! I was cropping an image in wordpress, and in order
to keep the aspect ratio of the selection box I had to hold down shift.
Spent about 5 hours afterwards and even reinstalled before I found
slowkeys.

Thanks. Yes, this still effects me in 11.10.
Fortunately install now allows you to set monitor resolution, so install no
longer affect me, but grub, splash and login are still defaulting to some crazy
resolution.

I believe this should be easy to address- all that needs to happen is
when you set your monitor resolution, it should automatically set log in
screen/ splash screen etc
