After the upgrade from 7.10, where my synaptics touchpad was
automatically recognized, to 8.04 (online) my touchpad stopped working.
When clicking on GSynaptics I get that I should set "SHMConfig" to
"true" in xorg.conf, which I have done, but that does not help.

I think you will find all the information in the attachment called
system data. It contains output from dmesg, lshal, lspci, the relevant
section from the xorg log, and lspci. However, I have attached the full
xorg log below for completeness.
