I already had lvm2 installed on the system I was using. After installing some package, the initrd changed. (no idea which package) So I had to reboot in the Live CD. The Live CD does not have lvm2 installed by default, so I installed it. I re-created the initrd in the Live environment. But wh

I dist-upgraded to 9.10 and faced the same problem with the 9.10 kernel. ( ie. root on lvm could not be found with the new kernel.) I booted from the oldest kernel that worked for me (2.6.28-11) And this time when I ran update-initramfs for latest kernel, the new initrd found the root disk. --
