this is isolated to the USB hub inside the monitor; the usb ports on the
computer are fine. eg i can move the mouse from the non-working monitor
usb ports to the usb ports on the pc and the mouse starts working again.
i dont have any high current devices attached to the USB hub on the
monitor, or

im afraid im still using 1.3.2 on ubuntu 8.10
i think 1.4.1 is in jaunty universe. i'll upgrade once its released; if the
bug exists in jaunty i'll file another bug report under that distribution

When i select Linux 2.6.32-17-generic-pae is selected from the grub

initially the latency is around the sub 50ms mark, but every 10secs it

under xfce power manager settings, if i set 'critical battery power
level' to 1% and 'on critical battery power' to 'do nothing', it seems
these settings are ignored. as soon as my battery gets to 5% the xfce
environment shuts down my laptop.
