I use current samba from Fiesty 3.0.24-2ubuntu1.2 Same behavior with cifs mounts. Previous packages were affected too at least since Dapper. I see a lot of threads on the forums about this or similar problem with samba/network being slow. I'm surprised that there isn't a lot of posts here. -- sl
