I also have this problem.
You could use xtightvnc instead. This one works.
Open a terminal and type: xtightvnc -listen

I tried it yeasterday again. When my brother connects with UltraVNC SC
everything works fine. But when a freind of mine trys to connect with (with the
same client) I also get an error.
Thats very strange.

thougt I give it a try and here we go.
Just attached a USB-Hub and 2 Stick's and one scanner. And no more problmes. :-)

Don't know if that's important, but I made a clean install with Gutsy.
I've only read here about updatet systems. So maybe some of you give
Gutsy a try with a fresh install.

I can't reproduce the error anymore.
It looks like one of the latest updates has corrected my problem. All USB
devices are working correctly now.

Sorry... My mistake. I forgot that I have recently removed a USB-Hub from my
computer...
With the hub attached to the pc the problem is here again.
But with these steps it's working.
4. Unload ehci_hcd with 'sudo modprobe -r ehci_hcd'
5. Insert your USB device again.
