It's very annoying, I love that view (and I'm sure I'm not the only
one), cause it allows to see lots of file, and to use the mouse to

Just tested again, the bug is not there now, so I don't know why It was
laggy the last time I tried to import bookmarks from a file...
Maybe the bug is there only when you just have imported bookmark...

same here in Xubuntu Feisty,
I use an old MITSUMI CR-4801TE drive.
Initialy, I use "irqpoll" option in 6.06 DAPPER DRAKE to avoid an error
happening when mouting file system, but that error appears les less before the
blue box shell/main install...

Okay, I found a solution, not 100% viable, but it works a little bit
better...
By modifiying Grub's command boot (e + e) and then adding "irqpoll"
(then "b" to boot), it works a little bit better.
I've seen quite few other commands to solve these type of problem (type "lost
interrupt" in google
try adding "irqpoll" to grub :
e (edit)
go to the ligne "kernel /boot/..."
e (edit)
add "irqpoll"
b (boot)
Not sure if it could work, but cost nothing to try !
If it works, you will have to modify your /boot/grub/menu.lst
