I believe i have the same issues as you guys.
I'm late but i have some information about this issue.
At work i have different workstation : lenovo m90P, lenovo m91p and lenovo
m93p.
The freeze occure for me only on the m91p.
Now about the ubuntu version : The m91p work perfectly on ubuntu 11.1
Okay. I downgrade kernel to 3.0.0 (the one of oneiric) and I had no
freeze during 15 days on all my machines

Just to help I have the same kernel on servers machines and desktop
machines. But only the desktop machine freeze. So maybe it is a kernel
problem, but releated to graphical environnement

There are times I try to pause/stop the file currently playing in
Rhythmbox via the sound indicator applet and it doesn't pause/stop. When
this happens I hear the audio playing begin to crackle and I have to
close Rhythmbox all together and then

Yes crossfading was enabled. Thanks, so far that seems to have helped.
But I will continue to check it over the next few days as the problem I
was experiencing didn't happen all the time.

I had the same problem with nvidia-settings and putty. Running the
applications as 'sudo' helped.
