The underlying issue (with the PPA) might be that the hud shortcut is
actually set to by default, which is eating the Alt_R modifier.
You'll probably have to do:
gsettings set org.compiz.integrated show-hud "['Alt_L']"
Then Alt_R should work for modifier switching...

hud key to Alt_L, I think the only good workaround would be to disable

Luna 4.4. I also tested with Kepler 4.3, so it might be exclusively the

it in the first place. My intuition says that this is purely a problem
caused specifically by the takeover of keyboard layout duties by gnome-
settings-daemon. I tested this by moving the /usr/bin/ibus-daemon binary

Starting a Yakkety Unity session, PulseAudio fails to load module-alsa-
sink, so the only sound output available is the Dummy Output.
Killing PulseAudio and letting it re-spawn a second time loads module-
alsa-sink properly, fixing the sound.

I don't know if that would be the easiest approach. It sounds to me like
having U8 implement that dbus interface would be the easiest and least
invasive solution, but then again, I'm not the one volunteering for that

Is this bug still happening? Then the problem is most likely gtk since
the popover is rendered on the same surface as the window (unless the
window isn't responding to any clicks at all).
