I just learned that Ubuntu 12.10 has been released. Is the backlight bug
still an issue with this release? On my emachine 525 the backlight goes
out once the update starts to install. I am not able to see to complete
the installation.

I don't know what a screencast is and the only thing I have to do to
reproduce the bug is move my mouse to either side of the screen, nothing

Since installing Ubuntu 12.10 pages are constantly freezing. Pages and
documents in Libre Office constantly scroll up and down. When pages
freeze, the backlight dims and then comes up again. This happens

I followed the links you sent and I was not able to get into my computer nor
was I able to reinstall. I had to take it to a repair shop and I spent $108.00
getting my hard drive reformatted so that 12.10 could be installed. I need to
let you guys know that the original problem still exists so
I cannot do any work on this machine. Can someone please tell me if
installing 12.04 LTS would resolve these issues.

I am having this problem frequently. After being on a website for a
while and then try to type in a new web address, or type something on
the web page, or do a search, there is no cursor, and I am unable to do
anything. I have to close all browsers and reopen, and that usually
resets the cursor.
