I am also experiencing thing same issue while attempting to upgrade to
Edgy.

I managed to resolve this issue by downgrading a bunch of packages back to the
default Dapper versions, including:
- libgl1-mesa
- libgl1-mesa-glx
- xserver-xorg-video-ati
- xserver-xorg-video-i810
(These packages were upgraded since I was playing around with Compiz...)

Actually, it seems that the released fix only works when the "un-
maximise" button is used to restore the window.
When I tried to restore the window by double-clicking on the title bar,
the original issue persists, and the window is restored to a different
position.
