Same here on both flash plugin versions (7 and 9-beta).
I've changed default depth in xorg.conf from 16 to 24 and now works.

As a workaround, I have been using a self-made script in python to make
.fonts.conf follow gconf settings.
I've added it to session startup scripts for watching for changes in
gconf and writting a new version of ~/.fonts.conf according to the new
values whenever settings are modified.

The key location has changed:
It is now in the file
/usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/registry/main.xcd
search in the very long first line the key "DocumentStoreUIEnabled"
and change it to false

Problem seems to be solved on firefox using version 3.6.4+build7 from
ubuntu-mozilla-security PPA.
Option "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled=true" in about:config must be
activated.
