H...it seems that the problem was related to num lock. :\
The thing is, the Eee doesn't have a NumLock LED indicator so I didn't even
notice that it was only the right side of the keyboard that got messed up.

@Joseph: it would be easier to do something like that if I had another
machine I didn't need as much to try it out on, but I do not. Maybe
someone else will come along with the same problem, but in a better
position to try out the latest kernel.
