I am also affected by this bug. I am currently working on a GTK
application which makes testing the GUI very annoying. Thanks to all the

I tried installing the Gnome desktop which did not help. Then I updated
to Gnome 3.14 and the mouse cursor still disappears.

I noticed that under Ubuntu 14.04 I often have drawing errors around
radio buttons. The orange edge might be some bug of GTK, because I see
it in the own GTK applications I am writing. But it is also visible in
the e.g. update dialog.
