ACPI thinks it can do the brightness but cannot, and with
acpi_backlight=vendor (to disable ACPI controlling brightness), only
the intel_backlight entry in /sys/class/backligt sho
It doesn't work running from DVD. I am guessing acpi_backlight=vendor i
needed.

Sorry I wasn't clear.
The test I made from the saucy DVD was with upgraded BIOS (1.22). It's
doesn't work right of the box, I am guessing that the kernel parameters
above would make it work. That's how I made it work on my current
raring.

1. I am now getting /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight which I didn't have
before, and adjusting the brightness by echoing to 'brightness' in that folder
works.
