The built-in screen is blank with nvidia drivers enabled on Macbook Pro
5,5 13.3" model. The screen does work with the nouveau drivers, though
they do not work on native resolution. Nvidia drivers do work with
external monitor when configured with nvidia-xconfig --twinview com

I found it a big help to switch to tty1 with ctrl+alt+F1 and then back
with ctrl+alt+F7/F8. This would make it return to normal a lot faster,
and unstuck it most of the times it seems to be totally stuck.

I updated it last time around March, before switching the laptop from
Windows to Ubuntu. I will check the update utility if they have any

not able to put the laptop into sleep (tried with pressing the sleep
button from the keyboard). However, it would normally shut down itself
when requested.
Sleep worked normally before that, and works correctly again now afte

I tested with 3.11.0-031100rc4-generic. The ping output changed, though
it still does get disconnected:
$ ping 8.8.8.8
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=1 ttl=47 time=25.6 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=2 ttl=47 time=27.8 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icm
I tested it with Ubuntu 12.04.2 amd64 livecd. It happened again, however
this time ping would freeze when the lid was closed (it stopped from
pinging and would recover with ^C and restarting the process).
