Check if the sound is unmuted (for the speakers, the PCM,...)
It's strange seed69 has got sound with the backport install.
If it doesn't solve post your lspci | grep -i audio

it solved my problem
After i had to create manually the dir /var/lib/initramfs-tools
% sudo mkdir /var/lib/initramfs-tools
sorry for this bad bug report,

I've got no sound.
I didn't find any solution.
I tried with an Archlinux too and I didn't get any sound
