I believe I got the same error (when clicking the applet). I believe
this is resolved upstream, and I haven't seen this error since v2.4.3

I'm seeing a similar issues with vala-panel-appmenu 0.7.6, VSCode
1.99.3, on Ubuntu MATE 24.04.

Public bug reported:
Testing Ubuntu 25.04; add Sticky Notes to mate-panel, then select 'New
note'.
After a while, the application crashes and prompts the user to 'keep' or
'delete' from the panel; recommend to delete as otherwise the panel may
crash on open.
Following output is seen in journal:
Public bug reported:
Testing Ubuntu MATE 25.04 live session.
Added the Global Application Menu to the panel; opened e.g. Caja,
Terminal, Eye of MATE, and many other applications - the Global
Application Menu does not correctly capture the application menu, and
the applications still host the menu
FWIW: I don't think the dbus errors are directly related to the bug, as
I have seen that same error in 24.04 when the Global Application Menu
_is_ working.
