I own an Esprimo V-6536 from Fujitsu Siemense.
My hotkeys for brightness are different than those which were in hal-info.

"RenderAccel" "off" did the trick for me as well, though it made a few
games quite slow (Frozen-Bubble, Battle of Wesnoth).
