I'm having this issue too in xubuntu 14.04.1. It often happens when I'm
using Alsa, and it is random, sometimes audio works well but then all of
a sudden it gets this repeated popping/crackling sound.
When in the normal audio, top shows pulseaudio with 3~5% of CPU usage
and pavucontrol with 9~10%,
But when it goes to the repeated popping/crackling sound, pulseaudio
goes to 10% and pavucontrol to 98%, and it flickers between this attach
picture...

windows 7 dual boot in a MBR disk, and in the 2 times it does not
install grub correctly. In the firt time, it goes direct to windows 7
boot. In the second time, i got an error, like this:

Yeah, it seems that it booted as UEFI (i can confirm by grub window in
the install usb). But windows is installed as non-efi, there is no EFI
partition in this disk, as we can see in the picture. So, it seems UEFI
is disabled. There is no option to disable it in BIOS.
Is it possible to change this

I tried this nvidia 331 in NVIDIA GT218 [NVS 300] card, and X fails to
start too, after a buggy splash.
When you installed nvidia-331, it installed nvidia-prime too, and I
think after reboot, nvidia card is the default by nvidia-prime, instead
of your Intel HD Graphics 4400.

When i install bumblebee-nvidia, it should remove nvidia-prime by
conflicted packages (they do not conflict when both are installed?). I
have to purge nvidia-prime manually. When you install nvidia-prime, it
should remove bumblebee-nvidia and others dependencies as well.

- i was in my regular user and did a suspend in the laptop
- someone turn on my laptop, and the system went to lightdm, then the person
choose Guest Account
- some time after, the Guest was suddenly logged out
Then after, i tried to login to Guest, and shortly after it l
Ok, bbswitch does, but it is unseen by end user (at least, when you use
bumblebee, for example).
Is this behavior not unfriendly for user perspective? (and I'm not

Ok, there is an option for uefi or non-uefi system in bios, sorry (It
was in a place I did not count). Someone who install windows 7 forgot
disable this.
But the problem remains. It's no logical for ubuntu install UEFI stuff
in a MBR hard disk, even if it boot as UEFI. It would make more sense if
I activeted the onboard Intel in one HP desktop, and i can reproduce
this issue.

with h264 codec, but parole does not plays it. A window opens, asking to

I'm trying to play a mp4 video with h264 codec, and totem try to search
the codec packages but it does not work, take a look at the picture. It
should be more friendly to users (it used to work in the past).
So, if you install manually xubuntu-restricted-extras, it plays the

Trying to run Ubuntu in a low hardware (any hardware weaker than one
core 2 duo, i think) or in a virtual machine is painful. Even in a new
hardware, with core i7 for example, it is slow with Unity, if it uses
Intel graphics onboard.
There is a simple workaround, put "export

Scilab has a weird behavior in its demonstration window, take a look.
Try to increase height of the window, and the scilab icon will stay at
the same point, covering some options. Try to increase its width, and
the icon goes down (last picture, in the right).

little different from this bug issue. Take a look at bug #1268750.
