I just installed 12.10 and a single "Empathy" entry is shown in the
global menu.
Is that going to happen with every new version of Gnome Apps in future
releases?

This was solved in Precise (see bug #778499), but it's back in Quantal.
If I open applications that are not pinned to the launcher, and if they
are the last application on the launcher, they do not have a shortcut
key associated with them (such as Super+0, Super+1, etc). This
@inigo: I just downloaded notify-osd 0.9.34-0ubuntu5 from quantal
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/notify-osd) and I installed it in
Precise using dpkg.
The black border is gone ;)
