I too have this problem. Seems to happen at random times. I can't
reproduce. I first thought that it was a heat issue but I ran some tests
where I really loaded the system and run up the temps and nothing
happened. No logs to see what happened. I've attached my sysinfo
output.

The current problem with this is that the orig.tar.gz md5sums are
different between Debian and Ubuntu so this can't actually be sync'ed.
I looked into syncing this earlier. I don't think that a fakesync is
worth the effort at this point because the binaries are essentially the
same. My suggestion
I don't think we should diverge with Debian over this. Please file a bug
with the patch in Debian's BTS.

on this machine since I can't afford the potential downtime of an alpha

Gems install their own versions of stuff in a way that's opaque to the

As noted, reportbug and reportbug-ng have utility in Ubuntu for people
that interact with Debian BTS regularly. I'd say leave it blacklisted,
but if someone proposes a solution to get it to report to Ubuntu by
default, then I think it should be allowed back in.

however the fix for this will creep in once we start using a newer Wine

We have QScintilla 2.2 in Intrepid/Jaunty, but updating the QScintilla
