I am wondering if there has been any progress on this, and if a bug report has

This is impacting kvm deployments, and while there are workarounds, they are
all rather ugly (read: scripts that adjust tun MTUs after VMs boot).

Hi Guys,
The problem is still there, and the workaround is to create an empty
file first, then the menu entries for xscanimage will not be greyed out
anymore.
This is probably a UI fix, always reproducible. It has been open 7 years
now.
How can we get this moving again?

I can confirm the cause is the module i915 which is reported by procps

Well, I think that there is no reason to have it disappear when the user hovers

My reaction, and I guess it's common behavior, is to hover over it,

Affects me as well. I tried several times to create a second partition,
encrypted, on a USB key, and after I eject the key and plug it back in, Ubuntu
doesn't recognize it.
As a workaround, if I overwrite the faulty partition with a second one (without
freeing the space first), it works fine.

I tested on Lucid Netbook remix. I had 4 workspaces in a row, and I was able to
see "Move to workspace (up/down/left)" on a window on second workspace from the
left, while having four workspaces in a row.
The drivers are nvidia proprietary, though - not ati anymore, because the
machine is differ
I confirm that when changing the java environment to sun-java-6 (64
bit), the problem doesn't sussist (using squirrel-sql as test case).
Not sure how related it is, but using glipper, openjdk was copy/pasting
from java apps to gedit (but not to the terminal).

I've setup compiz (via CCSM) to have Ctrl+Alt+D as key binding for the
Show Desktop function.
The key bindingly get losts at random intervals, and each time, I have
to set it again. I can't correlate such problem with anything specific.
