Trying to get to 18.04
Stripped out all non-standard PPA references and reran update/upgrade,
completed ok.
But do-release-upgrade failed with with

Tried installing 3.5.0.21 kernel in 12.04.1LTS in a Vbox client
starting from 3.2.0-35-generic-pae. Wanted to check out DW-125 driver
compatibility before upgrading production system.

Irreversible screen blank after inactivity even with current FOSS driver
installed. Another workaround seems to be using nomodeset. No idea what
