I see the same crashes with plain gnome-shell, and I do see them even
without banshee and pidgin. So I think that the bug could be elsewhere
more basic.
On the other end, I *do* use the MSGE "classic systray" option, so that
could be a common culprit... hmmm... ¿can anyone confirm?

I can reproduce in natty too, with an eee-pc.
The good news is that the patch in the ppa: https://launchpad.net/~aapo-
rantalainen/+archive/ppa-aaporantalainen works very well. So this
problem has, at least for the user of a synapctics touchpad, a solution.

thanks. I joined the team, although I am not (any more at least) a
developer... but I will test and help and comment.
One suggestion: I still think that the best approach to global menu and
focus-follow-mouse would be having the global menu only for maximized
windows. Heck, it would be
rawphi: great idea, it's what I am advocating for since first day 1 of
Unity. There is now a little group (I hope growing) asking for something
to be done for having a better global menu experience...

I have the same problem with 32-bit. Moreover, the flgrx that finally
come installed is not working with gnome shell (garbled top bar), and I
have instabilities in Unity too.

Hmmm --- I have installed manually it:
fglrx-amdcccle-updates 2:8.881-0ubuntu6.1
fglrx-updates 2:8.881-0ubuntu6.1
(and still additional drivers says that it's not activated). Maybe it's
expecting a module called fglrx-upda
Sorry --- amdcccle says driver is 11.8, not 11.9.

What I'd really like to see is global menu only for maximized windows... sloppy
of click focus, it would be great (and IMHO the most intuitive option).
But it's marked won't fix --- so I suppose no cigar.

launcher/dash completely broken. In the meantime VirtualBox did a reboot
on a windows virtual machine which broke with the keyboard grabbed ---
it happens sometime, clicking the right-ctrl key returns the keyboard to

I am trying to reproduce it with the last version of firefox, but can't.
Although it was not a 100% reproducible thing.

I noticed it too on Natty. After a screen-lock, the address bar in some
"new tab" windows do not receive keyboard focus (I have focus-follow-
mouse, but even clicking on the address is not useful).
Is quite difficult to reproduce, but it's easier if you have various
firefox windows (each with seve
@Jameel: I can confirm it. The window shows up and then disappear rapidly.
Running form command line
