Found out that this is more than just a "cosmetic" issue. If I mute
during bootup (before the kernel loads) this mute is not carried over
through bootup *AFTER* kernel load. Thus, my system will boot
unmuted...which can be embarrassing during the LinuxCon morning Keynote.

Both the volume up and down OSD stuff works, BUT now when I mute, the
