I have been trying to get the Echo Indigo IO sound card to start up
again after suspend. I find that /etc/init.d/alsa-utils stop doesn't
stop it, though that seems to work on my internal sound. I find that
/etc/init.d/alsasound stop does indeed stop it, but
/etc/init.d/alsas
I find that if I just remove the Indigo IO card without stopping
anything and re-insert it, I can suspend while it is removed, and it
works when re-inserted. I would much prefer to be able to just leave
it in and set up the suspend scripts to take care of it though.

modifying the file.
I was raising the issue because, since I had not manually added that
file myself I assumed it must have been added as part of a package or
distribution upgrade. As there seem to be a number of threads

shell, as networking is already shut down. I kind of think maybe it
would be nice if gdm issued the -P option on its implementation of
shutdown for turning off the computer.

I don't have to unplug and plug the card in until I want to use it after
sleep. Before, I was unplugging, then sleeping, then awaking, then
plugging back in. Now I just unplug and replug and it then works again.

is that MP4Box from my Deb will not import AAC files unless it's run as

I am not sure how to search for more details, but when I would use the
window+tab hotkey (using either the ringswitcher or shiftswitcher)
sometimes my sceen will just go black, then I would get a glimpse of the
desktop before I would be logged out.
I just reproduced it now. I just went to "System > Preferences >
CompizConfig Settings Manager", I then scrolled down and clicked the box
to enable the ringswitcher. Then I just kept hitting the hotkey to use
it (window+tab) over and over again. It took about three tries before I
got the same resul
I found that any sub-menu I accessed caused kompozer to crash. The fix
just above from Denis Hofmann did the trick for me. It would be nice to
get this into the repository soon, as this was a pretty bad bug for
kompozer.

After 4 days of having Nautilus open to that same folder on both
machines with gnome-video-thumbnailer forcibly disabled, Nautilus is
still only using 100MB on one machine and 88MB on the other. So lacking
any other differentiating factor that I know of, I'm inclined to say the
memory leak was cau
It worked ok for me on a Sun V100 ...but I tried to upgrade a sparc
clone and it didn't work at all - it upgraded...and then it wouldn't boot

Just re-read the Oct 08 post re. Rhythmbox etc. can this info not be
placed in the .is_audio_player file on the device? Am I correct in
assuming that this file overrides the fdi info? If so, is the purpose
of the hal-info is to identify the capabilities of the device,

The system was unstable on reboot and I couldn't fix it. I've since
reformatted the drive. I don't have the files--sorry.

apport was disabled and the bug is not recreate-able because it only
happened on the first run since installing Ubuntu 8.04. I'm not quite
willing to re-install for the bug report. However, I did try removing
all traces of 'rhythm' from my home directory, but it did not crash
again.
