Heurm - I tried the various workarounds listed above but none of them
did the trick on my dapper sparc. Also I can't upgrade my gutsy sparc to

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) Desktop and Firefox 3.0.4 on a
Compaq Evo N600c laptop. My screen resolution is at the default 1024x768
for this machine. I am using Compiz in default configuration. I have not
changed either my screen resolution or de-maximized the Firefox window,

A work around I found was to find an old project (that works) and delete
out the source files and then put yours in place of those. I agree that
this needs to be fixed. It is important to help the novices out, and
the magic of automake and friends is a place that really needs to
happen.

CapsLock menu. Considering that the option to make CapsLock an

As a correction to my previous post, this -does- work on the T-6828. The
issue with mine was that it required a line to be appended to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, and the computer restarted:
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 model=eapd

This appears to be some kind of permissions problem. If I sudo aplay -l
all is well. I found my user not having permissions for audio, and
changed that in the GUI Users and Groups, but that alone didn't solve it
for me.
