I'm not sure if this is going to help or not... I am experiencing the
same problem, as are quite a few people, as shown by some threads in the
official Runescape forums. When the applet crashes it dumps a file like
"he_err_pid1234.log" in the home directory. Attached is one of those
files generated
,
neither of which worked.
Is there any progress being made towards fixing this bug? Is someone out
there trying to figure it out? It'd be great to have some sort of
progress reports...
Thanks,
Ricket

I am experiencing the same thing with Compiz. The Desktop Effects applet
sucks, it hardly gives any options (well, 2 to be precise), that's not
an excuse to not fix this problem.

I am having the same problem. Core 2 Duo, etc. - almost new Dell E1705

I disabled gnome-volume-manager and restarted... Well oddly enough,
gnome-session-remove --list still showed the volume manager as having
been executed, so I ended it but the startup continued to stall.
Just as I thought... It's a graphics problem. This bug might be

This makes me laugh.
Until Ubuntu is as easy to set up, use, and as stable as Windows, as
well as universally-supported, Ubuntu will never replace Windows.
Chances of that happening in the near future? Slim.

Encountered this today; I closed my laptop (causing it to go into

I have been noticing Firefox also missing some of my keystrokes lately,
mainly when I'm typing in the URL or search bar (for example, this entry
in this textbox did not have any missed keystrokes, but as I was typing
in the google search bar to find this bug, it did miss a couple

Yep, I had changed that setting too. And after upgrading to 9.10, the
issue disappeared; and I didn't make my usual change of clickSelectsAll.
That must be it.
So the current temporary workaround for this bug: turn off
clickSelectsAll.

This happens in both firefox-3.0 and firefox-3.5 for me, and it happens
on both the URL bar and the address bar. And it is triggered not only by
the screensaver, but also by the lock screen or by resuming from
standby. The problem can be "fixed" by opening a new window (Ctrl+n) and
then closing it.
I am experiencing the same problem as Vladimir describes with a clean
install of 9.10, and I don't have a webcam. I am on a Dell Inspiron
E1705. Going to try to figure out how to benchmark my bootup so I can
try and figure out what's hanging for so long.
