Hello I had the same problem. After going to system->power
management->general, I deactivated the "use sound to notify etc.." and
it worked perfectly, without even giving an error message in text mode.
Maybe this could help tracking the problem: the sound feature would be
responsible for the bug??

Just a question though: will I need to reinstall ubuntu to replicate my
problem now it's been corrected? can I debug by simply using the live CD

Same issue here. Ubuntu 20.04 fully updated running on a Dell Latitude
5590. Started after VPN connection over wifi. It works ok sometime and
then VPN and network stopped working in this case. Changing to cabled
connection just in case meanwhile the issue gets solved.

Huawei broadband modem fails to connect to Tigo, Honduras, after the
most recent Ocelot update (Sep. 3.2011). 3.0.0.9 Kernel.
Ocelot finds and recognises the modem, and dials, but it just fails to
connect to the Internet service. I'm back in Natty now and I'm
connecting fine.

Unity launcher doesn't hides, and covers maximized windows. With Unity
Launcher I mean the bar that is on the left side, and contains the
icons. Buttons do work. Auto-hide is activated in compizconfig-settings-
manager.

It happens since Ubuntu runs. It is like if all the windows were behind the
launcher.
