I have an Acer 9500 series with the same issue. As I do NOT want to be mucking around with the kernel. I would appreciate the fix being integrated into the system. I am running Gutsy, (Ubuntu 7.10), Liinux kernel 2.6.22-14. This has been consistent with me on the last two versions (6.10, and 6.4).
