I am unable to compile any basic GTK application, because it's pkg-config data
got broken with some recent updates (I am using an up-to-date 13.04).
This is very easy to reproduce:
$ pkg-config --cflags gtk+-3.0

A *temporary workaround* is to manually edit /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/pkgconfig/gdk-3.0.pc (this is path on my 64bit system, use locate
gdk-3.0.pc to find the file if this path is not present at your
system) changing:
Requires.private: gio-unix-2.0 fontconfig x11 xext xinerama xi xrandr

running, so I tried to
sudo start aiccu
but it says 'start: Job failed to start' after a moment, and I couldn't get it
to be any more verbose.

Thank you for prompt replies.
The error message means actually "Access to file denied", it looks like only
root user can read from the config file.
My aiccu.conf file contains following settings (user/pass/tunnel
changed):
username -SIXXS
password YY
protocol tic
serv
Setting daemonize to false made aiccu display messages, and it turned
out my login credentials were for some reason wrong, and aiccu never
notified me about it until I used verbose + do not daemonize. Everything
is now back to normal.

Has this been fixed? I seem to be affected by this bug, yet I cannot
update upstart to the newest version, as it triggers kernel panic when
it's configured. I also cannot boot up with the --no-log option, because
this causes a kernel panic immediately when the system begins to boot. I
