Currently (Ubuntu 8.10) I got no problems with rdiff-backup (1.1.16-2).
"rdiff-backup" gives nice message instead of errors:
"Fatal Error: No arguments given
See the rdiff-backup manual page for more information."
(it says about fatal error but it's because of no parameters given).

I've got the same problem when trying to install mysql-server - it fails at

After reboot and marking mysql-server-5.0 to installation was successful, so

please stop posting "I confirm" or similar - this bug is ALREADY in status
"Confirmed".
It's better to use link "This bug affects me too" (at the top of the
page) if you really want to say you experience exactly the same issue.

Same flickering brightness problem for me.
It continues until Ubuntu finishes loading all startup programs - then it stops
at some level.
I recently switched to Karmic Koala Alpha 6, problem was not in ealier (stable)
releases.
I am also using MSI Wind U100.
