Just upgraded from Xubuntu 13.04 to Xubuntu 13.10, and got the issue of
the sound indicator not working. (64bit system.)

Unfortunately, the chip sets in this laptop have severe issues with the
open source driver - one of the reasons I am running (x)ubuntu 12.04
beta is that it is currently the only distribution I know of where the
restricted fglrx driver will install, allowing me access to the ATI
control panel, with

one, and as mentioned in the initial bug report, it came from rmmod:ing
a wacom tablet kernel module (from sourceforge), and that is a one not
included in Ubuntu repositories.

I also have this exact issue, with MSI PRO Z690-A Wifi DDR4 motherboard,
with the latest firmware.
In addition, as this machine has a DVD drive, I can hear the following options
by editing GRUB:
reboot=pci
reboot=efi
Those cause a real reboot - there is a "click" for power-off/on and the
DVD dri
