I feel like in Windows world again ... to fix "something" wrong in /etc

So the problem persists even after upgrade to 11.10. :-(
Recap:
AMD Phenom 8650, Nvidia 260, upgraded from 10.10 32-bit to 11.04 - also
affected. Every log out, reboot or shutdown ends with black screen. Only option
to reset or CTRL-SysReq REISUB. Later upgraded further to 11.10. Problem still
Kernel 2.6.38.10 upgrade didn't help for me. Problem still remains.

Shutting computer is a piece of cake - you can always press a button.
(Irritating - yes. User friendly - no.)
But guess what happens when my wife logs in and then tries to log out while my
session is active. Not a nice thing at all. :-(
