The issue seems to be fixed with 8.04.

Thanks for extra help. Killing Hald and lauching it as hald --daemon=no
--verbose=yes didnt do any good though.

Yeah, sorry. Thought that hal didnt want to log last time, so I repeat the

I have experienced this with Seagate 250gb External HDD, but similar
cases have been found around the internet. Other USB-devices. such as
Ipods are working perfectly. Plugging the drive in should give the user
1) Shortcut to desktop 2) Shortcut to Location-tab 3) Nautilus or
