Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg
Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 x86_64
Something is overwriting the xorg config every reboot - I have to
reinstall Nvidia 173.08 driver every time I login to avoid failsafe mode
and get full resolution.
It is OK if I just restart the X server though, so
> It would be nice to get the Xorg.0.log.old and see why it fails after
a reboot.
It does'n fail after the reboot - it just does'n know to load the nVidia
driver...
anyway the Xorg log is attached: as you can see it tries to load the NV driver
instead

Just to add - the CPU usage is reduced to normal if firefox is
minimised, or you click the stop button. Xorg is probably just crapping
itself trying to render those stupid little animated rotating icons on
the tab title bars.

Firefox causes massive Xorg CPU usage
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bug
Xorg does not just hog CPU while firefox is rendering a page (this would
be understandable), but even when firefox is quietly waiting for data,
for example if the wireless connection has dropped out, firefox is
sitting using about 5% CPU waiting for data, but Xorg is eating 40% -
why?

How is this wishlist?!
No sound for virtually any 3rd party app (as most are not x86_64) on

This is a dealbreaker for getting people to migrate from a Windows
