Binary package hint: amarok
I want to play a 6 hours-long mp3. Amarok knows the length of the mp3

Winamp and rhythmbox played my mp3 entirely.

It works with totem, xine-ui, vlc and SMplayer.
Amarok uses the xine engine.
Something to add :
just before the limit where it stop playing, no sound is played whereas
rhythmbox plays something at that time.
