OpenGL 2.0 or 1.2 again, although 3.0 still crashes KWin.

I can confirm that the temporary workaround provided by Graham Waugh in
#4 above works. Before I made the change to the LangCache.py file,
accessing System Settings > Locale > System Languages would result in an
error about a KCModule. Closing System Languages then resulted in a
crash of System Set

It seems like this problem has become a lot more frequent (happens many
times per day) with the upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10. On 10.04 the problem
also existed, but only happened once every week or so. No changes have
been made to the e-mail setup other than the Ubuntu upgrade.

Tried Joseph's suggestion. Still receive the error. Ongoing for over a
month now. Have flushed the temporaries as well to no avail. I get
notification "New version of Kubuntu available. Run updater, get error,
advised to restart. Restart, get adivsed of new version of Kubuntu, and
