As far as I know the problem was solved after an upgrade of the
application.
I'll poke the reporter to get an update.

Public bug reported:
Hi all,
I'm reporting a problem on behalf of a friend of mine.
After the upgrade he was unable to connect to his mobile via the gnome ppp
application.
Log message:
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot open /dev/rfcomm0: Permission denied
--> Cannot open /dev/r
Hi Scott,
thank you very much for the prompt answer.
Does it mean that he can simply update the box and the problem will be
automatically solved?
If not, where he is supposed to add:
KERNEL=="rfcomm*", GROUP="dialout"
Currently, the udev.d dir is populated as follow:
$ ls -l /etc/udev/rules.d/
Tormod,
package downloaded, installed, reboot without a xorg.conf file and everything
is working fine.
Problem solved.
Thanks!!

My report "Bug 132277" has been considered duplicated of this bug,
that's fine with me but I see a difference between my configuration and the one
of this report,
I'm not using a closed Nvidia driver but the open ati driver.
