On my system - Thinkpad T61 everything worked fine until the GNOME
update yesterday (that was also supposed to solve Bug #389857) after
which closing the laptop lid never suspends the system. Using the
"suspend command" works perfectly.

I'm using Karmic with gnome-bluetooth 2.27.5-1ubuntu1 on a Thinkpad T61 with a
builtin broadcom bluetooth adapter:

The problem is that after waking from sleep, the hardware bluetooth led
is on, but
I applied the patch to the above mentioned kernel and run it. Curiously
it does not feature the screen corruption that was the issue of this
bug, but it does still changes to 85Hz when docked and back to 60Hz when
undocked:

I also am not seeing corruption issues with the kernel update (I checked
before and after and the kernel update indeed seems to be the reason).

I could not reproduce it ever since I did an upgrade that installed
kernel 2.6.31.3, so on the face of it it looks like another update, and

2.27.5-0ubuntu2~ppa5 does store the settings properly, but it no longer
actually suspends the laptop when the lid is closed. The current Karmic
version has the settings dialog messed up but at least if gconf has
/apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/lid_battery set to "suspend" it would
have suspended
NM - it does work. I think the problem was with the inhibit applet -
once I removed it from the panel, it started sleeping again.

After installing openoffice.org-gnome (and openoffice.org-gtk), oowriter
started fine. When I removed the two packages, oowriter reverted back to
the previous behavior - consuming 100% in the splash screen, with this

Isn't that a bug that normal use of Eclipse requires one to install
eclipse PDE ? standard Eclipse packages from eclipse.org have no such
requirement.

as far as I understand, and I'm not using a split access SMB server, if
you have a mounted SMB share with read-only permissions, and you attempt
to write to it then youd get an error, and gvfs will either try auth
away (regardless of the password save state) or not.

Not really - what it suggests is that (a) the error cannot occur if the
OWA account is disabled, and (b) if you are in an error state then
disabling the OWA account fixes the error immediately without needing to
restart.

Correction - to reproduce the problem, you have to write one line of RTL
text, hit enter, then write the problematic text.
Its easy to detect if you're going to have a problem by observing the
weak directionality character - normally when you write "* SOME RTL
TEXT" you'd get on the screen "TXET L
